WINDENG: Wind Energy Assessment Studies and Wind Engineering

Duration: 1/9/2002 to 31/12/2005

Total Budget: € 1.172.201,00

CRES Budget: € 103.033,00

Project Description:

The project “Wind Energy Assessment Studies and Wind Engineering” (WINDENG) was executed in the framework of the action “Improving the Human Research Potential and the Socio-Economic Knowledge Base”, and deals with the creation of a research and training network on the study of wind characteristics related to the design of wind farms in Europe.

The original work plan was divided into the following 5 interrelated tasks.

1. Study and modelling of turbulence in the Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL),

2. Wind energy assessment in complex terrain (SITING),

3. Wind modelling in complex terrain (MODELING),

4. Offshore wind engineering (OFFSHORE), and

5. Power forecast (POWER).
