FLEAT - Fleet Environmental Action and Assessment

Funding programme: Intelligent Energy Europe - IEE

CRES budget: 88,218 €

Project duration: 01/10/2007 – 31/03/2010

Project description:

The main objective of the FLEAT project has been the assessment of the effectiveness of various energy efficiency measures when applied in vehicle fleets. The fleets under consideration have been both private and public.

The measures that were applied included energy efficient fuels and vehicles, fuel efficient driving style (ecodriving) and mobility management. Indicatively we may mention pilot actions that assessed the effectiveness of ecodriving, the reduction of weight of buses, policies of incentives for choosing energy efficient vehicles in companies and other which may be found in more detail at the projects’ website.

In Greece, CRES proceeded in an innovative pilot action that included the application of ecodriving in electric buses (trolleys) in collaboration with the public organization ILPAP. This specific action revealed a great potential for energy saving by about 15%. Other very interesting actions have been the application of ecodriving in courier vans (TNT) while also very good results were demonstrated during the rest of the pilot actions with the companies Public Power Corporation, Bristol Myers Squibb and Leaseplan.

Just before the end of the project, CRES organized a very successful workshop where among other very interesting topics, there was a presentation of the results of the project.
