Activity 1:Regional Renewable Energy Assessment
Activity 1 has four main tasks:
Legal, Regulatory and Policy Framework - to assess the current state of development of renewable energy policies, institutions, and promotion mechanisms; cataloguing the existence of key practices and identifying gaps in the policy and investment framework; and suggest best practices, la ws, policies, and incentives. The Renewable Energy Stocktaking Report which was presented in April 2009 is the outcome of this task.
Physical and Technical Resource Potential - to estimate the physical and technical resource potential of renewable energy in the participating contracting and observer countries.
Economic Analysis and Market Potential - to estimate the market potential for specific renewable options based on consideration of la ws, regu la tions, policies, and institutions.
Financing case studies and Investment Possibilities - to analyze the potential to finance projects indicated by the assessment surveying potential financing mechanisms, private companies and industry groups that might enter into partnerships or joint ventures.
