Program Activities

Activity 1: Regional Renewable Energy Assessment

This activity involves the assessment of the legal/regulatory/policy framework for promoting renewable energy investments; estimation of the technical/economic/market potential for renewable energy; determination of the potential impact of renewable energy on future energy supply requirements; and analysis of the potential to finance projects indicated by the assessment.

Activity 2: Energy Efficiency in Residential and Public Buildings

This activity is designed to help interested Energy Community countries to develop national building energy programs and address the key legal/policy/institutional, technical, and financial issues needed to stimulate project development and commercial financing by providing capacity among experts which will allow them to implement relative programs. The implementation Pilot/demonstration projects seek to reduce the energy costs for government and household consumers with special consideration to low income customers and socially critical institutions such as schools and hospitals and serve a replicable showcase for similar activities.

Activity 3: Strategic Planning for Energy Efficiency and Renewables

This activity supports further regional cooperation in developing national capacities for energy policy and planning and examines national and regional implications for energy security, economic growth and the environment of potential investments and technology development and commercialization in energy efficiency and renewable energy thus providing Ministries with a better understanding

Activity 4: Capacity Building and Institutional Network Development

This activity aims to promote institutional networking among centers of excellence by providing technical support; capacity building; and providing training and dissemination to the energy agencies, institutes, and NGO's in the Energy Community countries. The networking efforts are complemented by providing institutional strengthening and capacity building, and by assisting in the creation of national energy agencies/ centers in the countries of the Energy Community that do not have such organizations.
