Activity 3: Strategic Planning for Energy Efficiency and Renewables

Activity 3 has three main tasks:

Preparation of Models in New Participating Countries - The IRG/CRES MARKAL Modelling Team is working with Georgia , Ukraine , and Moldova to develop their national energy models so they can participate in the regional project with other Energy Community contracting parties.

Policy Issues Identification and Analysis Approach - IRG/CRES is working with individual country officials and institutes to identify key energy policy questions important for energy security, economic growth, and environmental improvement. National and regional issues are ranked and a methodology developed for analyzing these issues.

Capacity Development and Policy Integration – Local modelling teams are set up consisting of trained technical expert and a Ministry Coordinator from the relevant Ministry who are developing various reference scenarios to be used in order to assist in development of NEEAPs and NREAPs.
