NEZEH

neZEH addresses the EU’s priority of accelerating the rate of refurbishment of existing buildings into Nearly Zero Energy Buildings, by:

• providing technical advice to committed hotel owners
• demonstrating the profitability and sustainability of investments towards NZE through pilot projects
• undertaking training and capacity building activities
• promoting front runners at national and EU level to increase their market visibility.

neZEH targets to SME hotels which represent the 90% of the European hospitality market. The neZEH consortium will work within the national legal frameworks to increase the nZEBs’ number and will tackle the main barriers that prevent SME hotel owners from investing in major refurbishment projects towards NZE consumption levels. The nZEB market is still limited.

So, neZEH will link relevant actors and key stakeholders from the building sector to the hospitality industry in order to bridge the gap between supply and demand side. Practical tools and informational materials will be available to assist hoteliers to identify appropriate solutions and to design feasible and sustainable NZEB projects. Existing examples will be promoted in order to demonstrate the advantages of being a neZEH and to foster replication of nZEB investments in the private sector.
